The Multi-Purpose Building came alive with the sound of music as the Fayette SDA church held the 8th staging of its annual Music Day on December 14, 2024. The theme for this year, Choose The Narrow Road was creatively interwoven into every narration, and song. To begin the day’s program, Agnes Weaver, our Music Director paid homage to our very own Holdsworth Howson, organist, and former Music Director who had recently passed away. She also provided a brief history of Music Day, and after a few brief comments the lights dimmed and we all sat in eager anticipation for the musical feast.
As each individual, or group sang our hearts were filled with the melody and the message in the music, and we showed our appreciation with shouts of Amen, and applause. Many of the songs were composed more than a decade ago, but the lyrics are as relevant today as when they were first written. Of the twelve songs on the program, five of them were sung by a soloist. They were Louise Herbert, Kimsley Clarke, Brenda Newton, Abraham Pescador, and Jemilo Nunnelly all of whom delivered beautiful renditions befitting the theme. The remaining seven items were delivered by groups such as the Fayette Vocal Trio, The Advent Gospel Singers, The Gospel Beams, and the Atlanta Chorale-New Creation our special guest performers.
To close the program, everyone joined Jemilo Nunnelley in singing "We are Nearing Home". Agnes Weaver then took the stage once more and thanked everyone who made Music Day a success. She was followed by Pastor Harvey, who did the benediction, and another Music Day was ushered into history.
